In order to easily get your automations up and running, there are a few things you should do before starting to make the process as easy as possible.
Setup for Course Passed/Failed Triggers
When using a trigger that is based on a course being passed or failed, ensure that the trigger course has a sample user in it that matches that criteria. For example, if you want to create a trigger that is based on someone Passing a course, make sure that the course has a user that has already been marked as Passed.
This is necessary because you will need a sample user's data to set up the following steps. When choosing a sample, you will be able to choose from the first three users in the course that have a matching status to the trigger condition, sorted by first name. With that in mind, it's recommended that you create a user with fake information, such as:
First Name: 000
Last Name: 000
This will ensure that your sample user will always be one of the ones listed in the sample data list, shown below.
Testing Course/Learning Path/Group Enrollment Actions
When creating an action that will result in a user's enrollment, it's important to make sure that the user you chose as a sample is not already enrolled in the target Course/Learning Path/Group. This is the final check to ensure the action works and results in the user being enrolled in the target.
For example, if an action is created to enroll a user in Course A, the final test will result in an error message if the sample user you started with is already enrolled in Course A.
If you receive an error message, check to see whether the sample user is already enrolled, and if they are, unenroll the user and try the test again.
